I'm telling you. There. Say Something

I’m telling you. There. Say something.

A duet performance/installation performed in a white cube gallery space. A couple in love cooking on a table; the man preparing dough in order to make a pie, the woman making lemonade. The audience has the choice to either observe these actions or interrupt them. When using specific tools the audience can trigger the performers’ actions. The couple is trying to build something together but instead they keep being distracted by following orders from others.

Tools:

1. Signs giving orders
2. A STOP microphone
3. A START whistle
4. A laptop with ten different music choices
5. A RESTART button, using the lights’ switch

Each tool corresponds to a specific kind of performative action. The setting of the performance gives the audience the ability to manipulate the situation and as a result it raises questions of entitlement and power structures.
